Studio GALA:

The brand produced by product designer Mr.Ryoichi Kobayashi. He was born in Nagano Prefecture in 1949, and opened his studio after graduating from Musashino Art University. He has created a wide range of high quality products for everyday use by adopting Japanese traditional materials and techniques which have been maintained for a long time in Japan.
Mr.Kobayashi has put a special emphasis on making the best use of ancient material, and applied historical Japanese handicrafts to modern products which can be used in contemporary life. Especially, “KOYORI items” which consist of strings made from twisted washi (Japanese paper) with matte black lacquer finish, and “SUZURI tableware” which is made from slate used mainly for the inkstone of calligraphy. These products are so chic and elegant but also so useful due to their simple shape. Molded as if the clear and noble atmosphere of “Chano-yu” Japanese tea ceremony had been formed into products, every item exists gently without intruding upon others. Once you see their high quality, you will understand why his items are used by many high end hotels.
